An Update

I am obviously not a good Blogger! I've got plenty of excuses, but I won't bother listing them all :) Life has been busy! My belly is definitely growing and we can hardly wait to meet our sweet boy. I've not been feeling great. I know I've really had a pretty easy pregnancy and for that I am very thankful. The first trimester was by far the best. I never had any morning sickness and other than feeling very tired and a little nauseous here and there, I felt pretty great. My second trimester was pretty good too. I had more energy. I did start getting some really bad headaches, but quickly learned that if I'd eat snacks between meals my headaches mostly stayed away. I wish I could say the third trimester has been as easy! Getting bigger has made me very uncomfortable. My back has been hurting so bad. It's my upper and middle part of my back and I have terrible sharp pains most of the day. I have not found anything that really helps. (Except for when James is rubbing it, which he has been wonderful at doing!) Baby boy is also pushing into my ribs, which is creating a lot of soreness. I struggle to get comfortable. I'm not sleeping well and have also fought a pretty bad cold. My emotions have also been all over the place. Just this weekend I've also started getting swollen. My feet and ankles are huge. They tingle! My hands are a little swollen but are not too bad. I am so thankful that the end is near and I know it is all so totally worth it. Hopefully in less than 6 weeks we will have our precious boy in our arms. Just the thought makes me giddy with excitement. I LONG to have him in my arms. I have LOVED the bonding we are doing while he is in my womb, but I am ready to snuggle him and kiss him and smell him!!! I've not officially announced his name on my blog. Sweet boy will be James Russell Hornaday III. Mama plans to call him JJ. It means a lot to daddy to have his son named after him and his grandpa Hornaday. And I will get total control over naming our next baby :) HA! I hope to keep up this blog better than I have, but I won't make any promises! Here are some pictures of my growing belly!

Family, Consignment Stores, and the Casino!

Last week was rough at school. James and I were also crazy busy after work all week and I was exhausted. I was so ready for the weekend, and thankfully we had a little get-away planned! We went to Southern Indiana to visit James sister Tracy and her husband Dave. It was such a relaxing and fun weekend! Saturday morning we relaxed and then went out looking for consignment stores, hoping to find some good deals on baby clothes. We didn't have much luck, but had a lot of fun looking. They also live in such a cute little town on the Ohio River and we enjoyed just driving around and looking. (And stopping by Dunkin' Donuts for an iced coffee! Ha!) Saturday night we went out to dinner at a little restaurant on the river that I have been wanting to eat at. The food was delicious and we had a great time talking. After dinner we headed to the Casino! James and I LOVE going to the Casino when we visit Tracy and Dave. We just play the slots and I really just like going to the bonus rounds because it's so much like a video game! I also really enjoy people watching at the Casino. Saturday was my lucky night... I won $42 on the Wizard of Oz slot machine! Ha! I was excited. It was crazy busy there, I could not believe all the people, but we had a great time. Of course the weekend went way too quickly, but we were thankful for the chance to visit with family and get away for a few days. Today, I am home enjoying a snow day and hope to get a lot of things accomplished around the house!

26 and 27 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights...

How Far Along: I am a bit behind on my blogging. This is my 26th and 27th week update!

Size Of Baby: At 27 weeks baby boy is the size of an eggplant.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have gained 14 pounds and goodness can I feel it. Eek :(

Maternity Clothes: I am wearing only maternity pants, sweats, or dresses. My tops are a mixture of both maternity and regular.

Gender: It's a boy!!! We are SO excited!

Movement: His movements and kicks have become a lot stronger so I can tell he's getting bigger!

Sleep: I'm still sleeping pretty well. It takes me a little longer to get comfortable and I usually wake up once to use the bathroom.

What I Miss: Being able to drive in the car more than an hour without having to stop to pee :)

Cravings: Orange juice, oranges, and Reese's Puffs cereal.

Symptoms: My back still really hurts and I have felt really tired this week. Saturday night I had some really bad stomach pains. They felt a lot like cramps but stronger. Thankfully it lasted about 45 minutes and then I felt fine. I don't know what was going on but it scared me. I've felt good ever since.

Best Moment This Week: We bought paint for the nursery and ordered the nursery furniture last weekend! We picked up the furniture today and I can't wait for James to put it together. I am also obsessed with shopping for our little boy and LOVE every chance I get to buy things for him. James is in trouble :) Ha!

24 and 25 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights...

How Far Along: I am currently 25 weeks... getting closer to meeting our sweet boy!

Size Of Baby: Baby Hornaday is the size of a head of cauliflower.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Last time I went to the doctor I had gained 10 pounds. We have another appointment this week so I will have a better idea of how much I weigh now. Not that I really want to know :) HA!

Maternity Clothes: James and I went shopping last weekend and I bought several pairs of maternity pants. I got a few dress pants for work and two more pairs of jeans. I also bought a few maternity tops, but I wear my normal tops for the most part!

Gender: It's a boy!!! We are SO excited!

Movement: I will never get tired of feeling my boy kick and move around. It's so precious to me! He was kicking a lot during a math lesson this week, so I told my class he must love learning math like they do. A little later one of my boys came up and said, "Mrs. Hornaday, I think your baby is going to come out a mathematician!" A few of my kids got to feel him kick this week too, which was really fun for them and me!

Sleep: I'm still sleeping pretty well. It takes me a little longer to get comfortable and I usually wake up once to use the bathroom.

What I Miss: Aside from my clothes fitting, nothing really!

Cravings: Orange juice.

Symptoms: My back still really hurts and I have felt really tired this week.

Best Moment This Week: For the first time, this week I had two strangers ask me when I was due. I got so excited! My aunt bought us a cradle and it came in this week so James was able to put it together. I just can't wait to have our little one sleeping next to us in his cradle! We also decided on crib bedding this week! We ordered part of the bedding so we can pick out paint and start painting the nursery. We've also started cleaning out the room we're using for the nursery, and I hope to be able to work on the room more this week!

21, 22, and 23 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights...

How Far Along: Yikes, I've been a terrible blogger. I have not posted in 3 weeks, so I'm trying to catch up. I am currently 23 weeks!

Size Of Baby: Baby Hornaday is the size of a papaya.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Last time I went to the doctor I had gained 10 pounds. Yikes! I'm doing my best to embrace this growing body of mine and just enjoy every minute of being pregnant.

Maternity Clothes: I finally bought a pair of maternity jeans. They are the most comfortable thing! I don't love the style, but they work. I really want some skinny jeans, but don't want to pay a fortune. I'm wearing mostly my normal tops!

Gender: It's a boy!!! We are SO excited! We've had a lot of fun picking out little outfits and looking at bedding.

Movement: Baby boy loves to move around and kick. He has been kicking a lot lately. James felt him kick for the first time 2 weeks ago! We were at church and my sister was with us too. I loved that they were able to feel him! James has felt him kick a lot in the past few weeks, along with my sisters and parents when we were together over Christmas break! I love feeling him move around inside of me.

Sleep: Sleep is the same… still sleeping great! I wake up every night to use the restroom, but have no trouble falling right back to sleep.

What I Miss: Aside from my clothes fitting, nothing really!

Cravings: Hmmm.. nothing really. Everything sounds good. I feel like I'm always hungry!

Symptoms: My back has really started to hurt.I'm so thankful to have a husband that will rub it for me! I also have to pee all the time :) Thankfully it's during the day and I can make it through the night going only once and sometimes not at all!

Best Moment This Week: Well because I'm covering three weeks in this post I have a few :) 1. Finding out we're having a boy!! 2. James feeling baby boy kick for the first time. 2. Being able to shop for little boy outfits and starting to plan the nursery!

20 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights...

How Far Along: I'm 20 weeks, halfway there!

Size Of Baby: Baby Hornaday is the size of a banana.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I still don't know. I need to weigh myself, but I'm definitely getting bigger!

Maternity Clothes: It is about time for me to buy some maternity pants! I so appreciate everyone that left comments about jeans on my last post. I tried on a few different styles at Motherhood Maternity yesterday. I found some I really liked there. I am still trying to decide exactly what kinds I want and from where, but my regular pants (with my bella band) are all just so uncomfortable! I am still wearing all of my regular clothes, but this will change soon!

Gender: We are SO excited to find out! Our doctor wants to wait until I'm 24 weeks before doing another ultrasound, but I'm REALLY hoping we can get one a few weeks early so we know before Christmas. I'm not good at being patient!

Movement: This baby is a mover and a shaker! I love how much he/she has been moving lately! I think I felt a little kick on the outside yesterday, but I'm not positive. I can't wait for James to feel him/her!

Sleep: Sleep is the same… still sleeping great! I wake up every night to use the restroom, but have no trouble falling right back to sleep.

What I Miss: Nothing I can think of. Mt. Dew maybe :) I wish they made caffeine free Mt. Dew!

Cravings: Cereal and orange juice.

Symptoms: I am still feeling great! So thankful.

Best Moment This Week: Feeling the baby move. I can't get enough of it. I just love feeling him/her moving around.

Help!

It's about time for me to buy some maternity jeans. My regular ones are becoming too uncomfortable! The problem is, I'm totally unsure how to go about this. There are so many different styles for the waist, and I have no clue what is the best option. Full panel, roll panel, low rise... I just don't know what will fit the best! I've never been much of an online shopper. I enjoy looking online, but I like to go into stores and try things on and see what they really look like and how they fit. However, the malls around us do not have maternity sections in the stores I'm looking at. So I feel stuck! I have found some options I really like at old Navy. (The two pictured above are my favorites!) I also love the selection at Gap, but they are so pricey! I am also wondering, do I pick a size the same as my pre-pregnancy size or go bigger? I'd really like for the jeans to last most of my pregnancy. Is that even possible? This is just all so new :) I know I should not be stressing about this, but I am. I'm not even sure how it works to return close that you order online! So, do any of you have any suggestions? What has worked best for you? I'd LOVE any help with this. Thanks friends!
